The Mind, Body, Spirit Connection of Magic

The topic of Uncrossing has been coming up a lot recently, be it from clients, peers or just those that are curious. I thought that this would be a great example to illustrate the point that magic is more than just spiritual work and requires the work of the total self; the mind, body and spirit. This applies to all magic but for the purpose of this post I will be using uncrossing as the example. These three aspects are not exclusive but intermingle with one another and affect each other in subtle ways. As these subtle interactions are so numerous I will just show a basic outline so that you get the idea and then get to how all this ties into the topic of Uncrossing.

The Mind:
This is often a hot button issue when brought up in magical discussion but I firmly believe that all magic begins in the mind. The ability to focus, to quiet the mind, to assert one's will are all seen as being essential to effective magic and sorcery. When one decides to take action it begins here, one must take the time to evaluate what it is they want to achieve as well as the milestones that will need to be achieved to accomplish their goals, there needs to be a clear and defined belief in what they are doing and the results that can and will be achieved. One can not achieve effective magic if they do not believe they are truly causing a change to themselves or their environment. Things like affirmative thought, daily affirmations and mental focus are all techniques on a purely mental level that help to  reinforce the concept that one is successfully performing magic.

The Body:
The physical actions we take can have a dramatic effect upon the magic we do, more so than many would give credit for. When one takes it upon themselves to perform an act of magic they often must take the physical steps to walk through the doors that were opened by spirit to achieve the purpose of the magical operation. One will not likely land a job if they do not apply and send in resume's, nor are they likely to find their dream lover sitting on the couch playing COD instead of going out or working the online dating approach. More so the physical acts that one does in ritual also has an affect on the magic being performed. The physical postures, mudras, or motions and activities taken in a ritual while physical have an effect on both the mental and spiritual aspects of ourselves, be it to subconsciously implant ideas or affirmations ( much like the act of washing downward to remove negativity in spiritual bathing) or energetically (mudras or breathing exercises may open up energetic channels to help one raise or release energy for the purpose of the ritual).

The Spirit:
The Spiritual is often the first thing people tend to gravitate to when doing magic, "What spirit should I use?", "What ingredients or implements do I need?" are usually the first questions asked before even having a plan of action to achieve their goal. The spiritual forces we employ in magic even if it not an external spirit but our own needs to be supported by the other two factors of mind and body. The spiritual tends to manifest itself by the path of least resistance so one must be prepared to open avenues for the spirit to work and have the clarity to know when to take advantage of the situation. The spiritual ingredients such as herbs, soil, and personal concerns all play a spiritual or energetic role to help filter our intentions to best handle the goal we have set out to undertake.

Now that's out of the way let's get to how all of this ties into Uncrossing.

When one decides to undertake an Uncrossing they must first evaluate not only what physical circumstances have brought them to their current situation but also what mental and emotional issues have helped the situation deteriorate. All the ritual and cleansing baths in the world will not remove a situation one is not willing to leave, you can not effectively cleanse yourself when living in the dirt. Physical changes being made, consciously choosing not to engage in self-destructive behavior along with spiritual reinforcement has been the most effective method I have found when doing work to uncross someone. The mental actions of daily prayers, affirmations as well as making behavioral changes all work together to reinforce the idea that a change is being made and the work is having an effect. The physical actions we do to create a new change not only serve to allow new avenues for success but they ingrain themselves in the mind further reinforcing the idea that new and positive things are coming. I often advise clients to do something to change their environment and appearance when doing uncrossing work, rearranging furniture, a new ward robe or haircut can have a powerful impact that should not be overlooked. The spiritual forces we employ have an etheric or energetic quality to them that causes subtle changes that are maximized when these other steps are taken fully and with commitment.

I do not want anyone to think that I am underselling the value of spiritual work and the effects it has on not only our material lives but our spiritual as well but it has become quite common that people choose to either go one way or the other when a combined approach is far more advantageous.

Here are a few things you may like to try yourself if you feel that you may be under crossed conditions.

Cleansing bath:
1/4 cup of Epsom salt- Draws out unwanted influences
1/4 sea salt-Used for it's protective qualities
2 tablespoons of lavender-For it's soothing and relaxing qualities.
2 tablespoons of rue or agrimony- Used for it's protective and reversing qualities.

Brew the herbs in two cups of water to make a tea, as you add each ingredient be sure to state the purpose of the ingredient as you add it to the water asking for the assistance of the spirit inside the plant and let it simmer but not boil. As this is brewing run your bathwater and add the Epsom and sea salt and make sure it has fully dissolved again asking for the assistance of the materials being used to help cleanse and remove negativity from your life. Return to your tea and remove it from the heat, you may strain the herbs out or leave them in the tea if you prefer. This tea is not for internal use but to be added to the bath water only. Once the tea has been added to the bath and mixed well into the water step into the tub and using a cup pour the bath water over you while standing. If there are prayers or psalms you wish to recite or the favor of a particular spirit or deity now is the time to call for it's assistance in removing these unwanted influences.

A simple prayer such as this would suffice:
(Spirit/Deity name), I, (Your full name) call upon your assistance to remove these negative and unwanted influences from me, I ask for your aid so that I may be renewed and refreshed, so that prosperity and abundance may flow into my life.

Save one cup of the bathwater after you have finished with the bath, when you step out of the bath you should put on fresh clean clothes, preferably white but any bright vibrant color will do in a pinch. Take the left over cup of water and pour into your toilet bowl and flush it down stating that you cast this negativity out of your life and by the power of whatever deity/spirit you asked for assistance from that prosperity and joy will be yours.

St. Michael....Suck it up!!!

 

 

This is just a follow up with my experiences with St. Michael over the last year. I first began working with Michael with high hopes of experiencing this magnificent angel as so many had described before. Unfortunately for me those expectations were not met...not even a little.

Instead my relationship with Michael took a far different path. I got none of the unconditional love and willingness to step up on my behalf that so many before me had described. To be honest at the very onset of the work I felt that this relationship seemed pretty one sided and that I was not getting much in return for my efforts and devotion. It took a while before the essence of what Michael was bringing to the table could be understood. Michael is a warrior, self reliant and unafraid. He expects us to take that quality into ourselves as well and apply it to our day to day life just as much if not more than in our spiritual work, after all the two intertwine far more than we care to think.

Michael pushed me, he pushed me hard and he did not care if I did not like it or want to do it. "Be strong" was a message I received quite often and I got little more than that for a while. Michael is a Solar force (this is debatable of course but to me he is Solar...so dealt with it), one can not attain what they want without the strength to do so. Sometimes strength means gritting your teeth and bearing the weight that the world throws on your shoulders. Sometimes strength means saying or doing what you know will make you unpopular or even worse a target for the anger of others, and sometimes strength is knowing when to swallow your pride and reaching out to someone who you know will most likely try to screw you over but the offer of kindness MAY just be what that person needs in their life and that small display of compassion can make quite a difference.

He is a powerful force when it comes to uncrossing and removing obstacles from one's life, the downside, well if you want to call it that is that often he chooses to remove our attachment to those obstacles which block us so that we can overcome them much more easily. He does not remove them for us as they are our burden to deal with and Michael always expects us to hold our own but he does help give you the strength to overcome them. I can say for certain that Michael is far form a get out of jail free card, if you put yourself in a situation expect to deal with it on your own, but if you were truly wronged or attacked without provocation he indeed will rise to the occasion and help you handle business like a boss.

I recently had a discussion with a very good friend and an extremely capable magician in his own right who had decided to work through Rufus Opus' new book Seven Spheres. After an evocation of Michael he came to me gushing about what a force Michael was and the sink or swim attitude Michael had when granting him initiation into the Solar sphere. I couldn't help but grin and nod my head as he shared his experiences that mirrored mine so closely as he called Michael a Solar Drill Sergeant. While he had chose to use Opus' method of evoking the angels while I had most of my experiences scrying fire representative of that solar force or placing a small tea light behind a clear crystal ball and focusing on the images that appeared within. This was just confirmation for me that the methods matter little in how we communicate with these beings and that the messages will be conveyed regardless of the medium used.

Well...I'm Back

Sorry for the long hiatus, I took a step back for a while and had to wrap my head around a few things that made me question what it is I really wanted to do.

 Seeing people who tout themselves as enlightened and evolved mages battling like school kids and practicing a playground mentality ganging up on the unpopular kids or the one's who are different from them, seeing so-called ethical and honest readers and casters throw mud at one another in an attempt to make themselves seem more legitimate instead of relying on the quality of their own work to make those points for them. Dealing with the fact that for many out there the occult is and always was just another business and opportunity to make a buck. This kind of stuff made me really question what it is I want to do and just how prepared I was to deal with the same behavior I saw others exhibit, I had to ask myself was I prepared to have the same kind of drama and childish tactics thrown at me as well.

I guess what I'm saying is I had to come to the quite obvious conclusion that these people are exactly that...people. One's practices do not make up the sum of their entire being. They have quirks, nuances and personality issues just like the rest of us. I had to come to terms with the fact that these public personas are little more than egregores, either created by the person or the expectations others have put on them.

Now to the more fun stuff that everybody actually would want to read about. This year I've decided to take my own practice into a different direction.  I have begun recently working with Santisima Muerte who has been making her presence quite hard to ignore. I will be also working more in the necromantic realms strengthening my relationship with spirits of the earth and nature. So hopefully I'll have some good stuff to share with everybody.

Linking a Sigil to an Area or Person

 

As promised I'm sharing the method I use to link a sigil of intention to a place for the purposes of influencing it's inhabitants. I first came across this idea while browsing through one of the more popular occult forums where someone was asking how they could go about achieving a goal like this. I immediately thought about the use of dirt from various locations and other sympathetic links used in Conjure practices and decided to take this idea and run with it.

I first performed a series of these spells to see exactly what I could do with this and if it would even work as I hoped. My first spell was to help my fiancé to find a job, as the economy and job market are in less than stellar conditions finding a job had been quite the undertaking for my lovely lady. She was putting in between 15-25 applications a month, sending out resumes everywhere she could think of only to be rewarded with jobs she was either completely unqualified for or just absurd (at one point she was offered a job as a mall Easter Bunny). I had her pick three of the jobs from the dozens she had applied to perform this spell on. I then went about getting the required links to perform the spell. Be discreet if you can as at one location I was asked what I was doing while gathering dirt from the corner of the building. I told them in my most professional tone I was there for a soil sample and quickly departed before they came to the conclusion that you don't collect soil samples in empty Tic-Tac boxes.

Once I was home and all my links collected I put them into a small bowl and added paint and mixed it thoroughly. I then painted onto a small canvas a sigil for the intention I had chosen, in this case for my lady to be favored over the competition this large painting of the sigil was to become what I called the "Master Sigil". Once the sigil was created I took a sheet of small circular mailing labels and added the same sigil to each of them these were to be the "Slave Sigils". I activated the sigils and left them to charge for a few days under a dressed candle said affirmative prayers over them until the candle was gone. I then left the Master Sigil upon my altar while I took the Slave Sigils out to do the work they were intended for. I returned to each of the sites my fiancé was seeking employment and placed them in various inconspicuous areas. Under counters, shelves, behind door handles etc. I worked these sigils in a web for lack of a better term closer and closer to where the administration would come in contact with them or at the least be near them.

 After doing this my fiancé was contacted by two of the three jobs that were targeted by the sigils. I had her place one of the sigils in each of her shoes before departing for her interviews and stuck two on the back of her cell phone so that once in the room she was to be interviewed she could stick them under the hiring managers desk or at least her own chair if that was all that was available. Within days of the interviews she was called back by both employers and my lady had the luxury of deciding whom she wanted to work for.

I have performed this spell several times now and it has always been successful and sometimes too successful so be careful how you formulate your statement.

I most recently did this spell for someone else and decided to incorporate my Jupiter altar into the mix as this person's request seemed a bit tougher than the normal influencing I use these for. This person had recently been through a divorce which left her credit in ruin and her finances in less than a desirable state. She needed a loan to be approved in order to keep the house she had been granted in the divorce and banks are not at all in a hurry to lend hundreds of thousands of dollars out at the moment. I had her collect dirt from each of the banks she had applied for a loan from, in addition I asked for her to get me the business cards of each of the loan officers she would be working with. I took the business cards and burned them to ash and mixed them thoroughly into the dirt I'd be using for the spell. I added a few drops of prosperity oil, road opener and compelling oil to the mixture as well to help filter or tighten the intention of the spell. I added the paint to the mixture and performed the steps described earlier in the creation of the Master and Slave sigils. Once this was complete I placed them in the center of my Jupiter Altar and placed a candle on the sigils from Financial Sorcery that I felt would be most beneficial for this spell. Draw Money, Sweeten Relationships, Defeat Competition were the sigils used, I then used the planetary calls of Jupiter, Venus of Jupiter, Mercury of Jupiter and Mars of Jupiter along with a few offerings to Jupiter to motivate him to lend his assistance. I had chose these calls as communication, favor and just enough twisting of the arm were what I felt were needed to help this person achieve their goal. Once the sigils were charged I shipped everything to her so that she could plant them as I instructed her around and inside the banks she applied to.

In my last correspondence with her she informed that despite the bad credit score and other disadvantages she faced in getting the loan she had been accepted by the first bank she had applied to.

If one were so inclined there are many uses for a spell of this nature, I personally have used this to lighten tensions on my job as well as win favor when evaluations and raises were approaching, as well as remove unwanted people from places in a gentler fashion than say a hot foot or causing an accident.

If anyone cares to try this please feel free to comment and let me know how it worked out for them, the Jupiter altar is not necessary for this to work as I have only used it once which was for the above mentioned spell. If one were to use a little creativity they could apply this in several different manners. Water form a wishing well or fountain mixed with water color paint to increase generosity or for people to be more apt to spend, dirt or dust from an office or coworkers cubicle is just as handy in this situation as dirt from the corners of a building. Use your imagination and see what happens.

Jupiter Altar Update Part 2

So I've had quite a bit of success with my Jupiter altar this past month. As I said in when I first announced this endeavour I mentioned that my goal was to double or at least substantially increase my monthly revenue from my store for each month.

I have been doing weekly work each Thursday using the draw money, steady work and viral marketing glyphs in conjunction with certain Jupiter calls namely Mercury, Venus, Sol and Jupiter of Jupiter. I include offerings of whiskey and incense to help sweeten up Jupiter and receive his blessings.

In the first 10 days of the month I hit my monthly target ($200) and within 20 days I was $137 over my monthly target and by the end of the month I had tripled my monthly income. In addition to tripling my monthly income, I received two offers to have my business promoted by outside sources.

As for the spell I performed on my altar to help someone receive a home loan they were accepted despite having bad credit and other issues that could have prevented having their loan approved. I'll be sharing the spell on my blog in the future for those who would like to try it themselves.

Jupiter has definitely came through but also given much to think about. Growth and expansion are great but they definitely have consequences. As prosperity grows so does the stress and concerns that come with managing it and time seems to be the only thing that does not seem to grow. While I'm honestly grateful for all the recent prosperity I'm even more thankful for the insights provided that allowed me to see the reality of what I've been working to achieve.

Jupiter Altar Update

I've been putting my Jupiter altar to work since it's creation and have been noticing some very nice results.

Goal:
I petitioned Jupiter to increase the activity of my business with the goal to double or at least substantially increase my revenue.

Result:
I was not close to my usual monthly goal before I made the altar this month, in fact sales had been a bit slow. After the creation of the altar and beginning the work I not only made my sales goal for the month but nearly made an extra $100 ($98 to be exact). Not bad for a 9 day span of time!

Not as sexy as Benjamin's but give me time...

Goal:
I worked with the Saturn of Jupiter energy to restrict costs and expenses as well as help provide discipline and longevity for my goals.


Result:
I had to take my dog to the vet, the vet checked her out shook my hand and said "No charge". I was a taken back a bit and quickly got out of there before he changed his mind. The dog is fine too. That certainly saved me a bit of money as a vet bill can be quite expensive.

I also received news in the mail that a credit line I had has been closed due to inactivity (Funny how they never close them while I owe them money...)

I also had a very welcome surprise of a friend gifting me some nicely done banners for my store, something I'd have had to pay for if I'd gotten them from somewhere else.

So the restrictive and binding aspects have definitely come into play to not only save money but also prevent additional spending.


My normal methods of use so far are as follows.

Make offerings to Jupiter on the central seal on the table consisting of a shot of whiskey that I take a small sip of and toast to Jupiter along with a mix of Jupiter and Prosperity incense and a blue candle dressed in Jupiter oil. I then recite the planetary call of Jupiter and give thanks for all that I have and all that will come to me in the future.

I then dress a blue candle with Prosperity oil and place it on the Money Drawing glyph and use a series of calls. Mercury of Jupiter for communication to spread the word of my business, swiftness for drawing clients and money in general. Venus of Mercury to make myself more attractive to potential clients and cause repeat business, Mars of Jupiter to keep me motivated to continue the work as well as keep me moving quickly to reply and handle client orders as fast as possible.

I then take an additional candle dressed in Money Stay With Me oil and place it on the Hold Money glyph and use the call of Saturn  of Jupiter to restrict and bind expenses as well as give me the necessary discipline to resist all those pretty shiny things I want.

After the calls are recited and the petitions are stated I place the candles in a triangle pattern and allow them to burn down.

I did a working using linked sigils to help someone get a bank loan as soon as results or lack there of are evident I will post details of the working and results.
